Neda Brasanac
Hello there!
My name is Neda Brasanac. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia and a Master’s Degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Padua, Italy.
I am on my way to becoming a certified psychotherapist in Serbia through a psychotherapy educational program in Transactional Analysis Integrative psychotherapy. I also have experience and knowledge in CBT and ACT approaches and techniques.
During and after my studies I was involved in a number of Serbian and European projects with an aim to promote mental health among different age groups and, through education, help them better cope with obstacles and life transitions. Counselling and coaching with youth and planning and running workshops are two areas I am most passionate about and have the most experience with.
Professionally, I am currently focused on three fronts:
– I work as a life and executive coach at Real Life Counselling and as a psychotherapist under supervision in Counselling Center for Youth in Serbia.
– I create and run workshops in the area of personal and professional development, mostly focused on preventative mental health.
– I am a writer and content creator, writing about mental health and well-being. I am the face behind Real Life Counselling’s blog posts, social media posts, and newsletters. I believe that knowledge is something to be shared and used to help people, and that is what I aim to do with the online content I create – to keep people’s attention while discussing important stuff. If you are interested to learn more about how to improve your well-being, you can read some of my writings on our blog here.
My approach to coaching:
I use various techniques and tools based on the main problem and on the client’s needs. I approach every client as a unique individual that, facing different challenges in life, developed certain patterns of thoughts and behaviours the best they could in given circumstances. When circumstances change, these patterns don’t work anymore and the client becomes anxious, lost, frustrated, angry, and, most of all, stuck. That’s where the client feels the need for help and support to go forward the most, and where the professional lands their hand on.
In a coaching session, we explore what brought the client to where he/she is now, we discuss where they want to be and why, and then build a bridge to get there by using the client’s strengths, unlearning unhelpful patterns, and building new skills.
For me, a coaching session is a safe space where clients can get to know themselves better, explore their patterns of thoughts and behaviours, find and express their authentic selves, and learn new ways to cope with challenges. It is a space for growth, development, and change, a space free from the pressures of “musts”.
